Since 1990 I've been successfully helping people improve their lives by improving their homes. Of course, one of the most important aspects of a successful project is cost - it does no good to build a dream palace that breaks your budget. However, in most cases I can find ways to make more out of what already exists, and if cost is important this can help. Of course, I'm happy to design to any scale - modest or grand - that you favor.
Here's What I Do:
I
listen. I also prepare plans & specifications for your project;
I handle building permit applications, guiding and advising throughout
the process; I prepare the drawings your contractor needs to build the
project. But first and foremost I listen, to understand your needs,
your goals, and your desires for the project. You're the boss, and I work for you.
Style:
I do not
have a "style". What matters most is space, and how spaces flow
together, and light, sensual detailing of materials, and a comfortable
connection with the outdoors. Style is language, and I love them all
and speak them all well. The important thing is not whether to speak
Victorian or Craftsman or Modern, it's what you say
in terms of space, light, movement, comfort, and delight that matters
most.
Fees:
I'm
a sole proprietor, which keeps my costs - and my fees - low. I base my
fees on two primary factors - the estimated cost of the project, and
the scope of service to be provided. Some people want complete
architectural services - including selecting & specifying
fixtures, site visits during construction, the works. Some people ask
me to get the permit and they take it from there - naturally that costs a
lot less. I'm fine with either arrangement or anything in between.
And there is no project too large or too small. I love all of my
projects.
